Remembering John Gallagher
Hey there, I’m sitting here with a cup of chamomile tea, and a heavy heart, reflecting on the recent passing of John. As a co-founder of Learning Herbs, a beautiful family-run company, John was a true spark in the herbal world, and his loss hits deep. My heart goes out to his family, who poured so much love into this legacy alongside him. As a huge fan of what they built, I’m forever grateful for how Learning Herbs shaped my journey as an herbalist and doula, especially in those precious moments with my daughter. When I was pregnant, I snagged their Herb Fairies series and joined their warm Facebook community, dreaming of the day my little one and I would forage wild herbs, flip through activity books, and read those magical stories together. Now that she’s 6, those herbal adventures are a treasured part of our bond, woven into our lives like roots in the earth.
Learning Herbs, with John’s vision at its heart, has this special way of making herbs feel like a cozy invitation for everyone—kids, parents, beginners, you name it. Their resources, like the Herb Fairies series, are like a big, warm hug, encouraging us to explore plants and make memories with loved ones. For me, it’s been a game-changer, sparking joy in teaching my daughter about herbs and inspiring the natural, nurturing vibe of my Sonshine & Raine work. John and his family built a community that feels like home, and my thoughts are with them as we honor his incredible legacy.
Let’s keep his light glowing—maybe plant some lavender in your garden, try a new herbal recipe, or dive into one of their fun family activities. Got a favorite Learning Herbs moment, like a go-to remedy or a story that stuck with you? I’d love to hear it.
On my website’s Digital Apothecary page, I’ve got some resources inspired by that same down-to-earth spirit, including my free “Nurturing with Nature” guide to sprinkle a little plant magic into your day. As I gear up for my Sonshine & Raine launch, I’m carrying John’s love for herbs forward, one leaf at a time.
Big thanks, John, for co-creating something so special with your family. Your legacy keeps blooming in our hearts and gardens.
With love,
Sonny
